This is the 2024 update to the 2022 HotFOCI talk, Leak Distribution Analysis Part One. The Intro and Method parts remain largely the same, with the additions of more capable geolocation technologies. These slides were presented by Abigail De Kosnik and Benjamin De Kosnik as part of the June 25, 2024 post-ICA conference at the University of Sydney, Digital Sovereignty for Whom? Platforms and Infrastructures in a Global Context.
Intro
The Alpha60 project’s manifesto, and goal remains the same as before: it attempts to look at leaks in a systematic fashion over the last six years, make a first pass at the data, and attempt to notice patterns and similarities of leaks as a genre as compared to the other types of files (which also include audio, video, books, magazines, pornography, proprietary software, 3D models) shared on peer networks. Is there a way to characterize leak swarms (in real time) as unusually supported by one nation state?
